Week One is a Success!

Casey Stoneman

I almost forgot to post our Week One recap . . . so much for being very good at this blog thing! Duff and I successfully finished the first week of the T25 program . . . or at least the kickoff week. I was reading up on some of the materials that came with the kit and apparently the first week is an "intro" week and the workout program starts the full cycle tomorrow . . . hooray!

As enthusiastic as I sound I am actually super pumped to keep going with this program. Duff and I haven't seen much results yet weight wise, but we've only been at it for 5 days. What I will say though, is that in this last week our eating has changed drastically and by drastically I mean a super good way! We have almost cleaned our entire house out of processed food and are really trying to make the kick to eat healthier and smarter. (It also doesn't help to watch the movie Human Experience on Netflix - don't do it unless you plan on cleaning out your entire kitchen and cleaning supplies!)

I mentioned last week that the program comes with meal planning help and guides to what you should eat to get the best results . . . what they should name the guide is "Avocados, Grapes, and Protein Shakes." I don't think I've ever eaten as much avocados or grapes in the past year as we did last week. Which I am not complaining about because they taste great . . . but we ate A LOT of them.

I also had my first encounter with an post workout glass of protein milk go south . . . it was not a pretty sight. Needless to say, I AM NEVER DRINKING MILK AND PROTEIN AFTER A WORKOUT EVER, EVER, NEVER EVER AGAIN! Ever! It still makes me gag thinking about it and Duff laughed the entire time. (I love you too!)

We've decided to do our workouts after work each day which works out well for us. I like my sleep in the mornings too much to wake up and try to get it in before work. The workouts themselves are INTENSE, which is exactly what they advertised, but they fly by. You definitely finish with a sweat each day. The only thing that I wish they did a little more of was a cool down/stretch at the end of each workout. They have a stretch day of Sundays, but from my years of running in middle school and high school scream at me to stretch, stretch and stretch!

I'm excited to see how this week goes and hopefully we don't die from the workouts . . . although I did see that Friday is Double Day Fridays. (I will let you know my opinion of that next week!)

What Have We Gotten Ourselves Into!?

Casey Stoneman

I have to admit, I think we may have gotten a little crazy this time around . . . but didn't someone once say crazy was a good thing? Maybe?

Tomorrow starts Duff and I's journey or experience (I guess we'll make the decision if it was a journey or experience a little later down the road) with Focus T25.

For the past few months Duff and I have been making a push to eating healthier and lose some weight/get fit. So we made the commitment to follow a long-forgotten 'healthy eating' cookbook we had gotten a few Christmas's ago. We committed ourselves to try at least 4 different recipes from the book each week. It was an awesome experience and we tried out a lot of new foods like celery root, leeks, and parsnips just to name a few. (Which are some of our favorites now!)

It's been about 2 months since we have been religiously cooking out of the cookbook and while I've learned a lot of new cooking methods; it hasn't done anything noticeable for me. If anything I've gained weight; although Duff just yelled that he has lost 10 pounds - so at least it is working for one of us.

But I want to see more results. I don't think of myself as fat, but do I consider myself out of shape and lazy? Definitely. I know that I will never have the same body I did back in high school, but I sure as heck want something close to it again!

So this is where Focus T25 comes in. Focus T25 is a high-intensity 60 day, 25 minute workout 5-days a week program. The kit comes with a 5 day fast track meal planning system, nutrition guide, meal planning help, 60 day workout calendar, a resistance band and jump rope. One of the things I really liked about Focus T25 vs it's competitor P90x3 was that it didn't require a lot of extra equipment - just the jump rope and resistance band.

I have to admit I am pretty excited to give this program a try! Especially when Day-1's meal plan includes things like raspberry protein shakes, chicken and spinach salad, turkey, goat cheese and avocado rolls, and grilled fish tacos!

The program starts on a Monday, so we've spent today getting our groceries ready and enjoying/cherishing out last bite of fast-food for a while (Freddy's I'll miss your delicious french fries and fry sauce). That means no more popcorn or cotton candy blizzards for me and no more ice cream sandwiches for Duff. (I think I may have tears in my eyes!)

So here we go!
